Do you know someone who should be in the CLGSA Hall of Fame?
Do you want to have someone considered? Now is your chance! Don’t wait for someone else to nominate the individual. Do it yourself!
ALL Applications are due by 5pm EST on July 6th.
Who is eligible?
Nominees to be considered for the Hall of Fame must have been a member of the Columbus Lesbian and Gay Softball Association for at least 10 years as a player, coach, manager, scorekeeper, and/or umpire (hereby known as “CLGSA members”.) If a potential nominee does not meet the 10-year requirement, but the nominator believes that person’s contributions have been of great significance to CLGSA, special exemption can be requested.
Who are honorary members?
Honorary members are those individuals who have assisted greatly in the development of the league but have not participated on the field of play in any way. For this recognition, only the Hall of Fame Committee members may nominate, though suggestions are encouraged.
What are the criteria for nominees?
Nominees should have made a significant, positive contribution to CLGSA’s mission. CLGSA’s mission is to strengthen the Columbus community by providing social connections, camaraderie, and athletic competition for players at all skill levels.
When are nominations considered?
Nominations will be accepted until July 6th.
Who may nominate?
Any current or former CLGSA member may nominate a candidate for the CLGSA Hall of Fame.
What do I do once the form is completed?
Once completed, nomination forms and supporting materials are to be mailed to the Hall of Fame Review Committee at the address stated on the application.
Do I need to do anything else aside from the application form?
Materials, which support the nominee’s application, may be included with the nomination form but are not required. All submitted materials become property of the CLGSA.
Who votes on the nominations?
In the inaugural year of the CLGSA Hall of Fame, and in all years after until such a time as the CLGSA Hall of Fame reaches 7 or more living members, the Hall of Fame Committee* shall vote on nominations to the Hall of Fame.
*Any individual who is both a member of the Hall of Fame Committee and the CLGSA Board of Directors shall be recognized as one voter and will not receive dual voting privileges.
Once the Hall of Fame membership reaches 7 or more living members, the following individuals will vote on the nominees who meet the criteria for Hall of Fame consideration (or, based on the Hall of Fame Committee’s recommendation, can be considered for special exemption):
- Each still-living member of the CLGSA Hall of Fame
Who serves on the Hall of Fame Committee?
Until such a time as the CLGSA Hall of Fame reaches 7 or more living members, the Commissioner of the CLGSA will appoint a seven-member Hall of Fame Committee of current and former CLGSA members. The Hall of Fame Committee shall elect its own Chairperson. The Commissioner of CLGSA shall serve as a non-voting, ex-officio member of the Hall of Fame Committee. Once the Hall of Fame membership reaches 7 or more living members, the Hall of Fame Committee shall consist of all members of the CLGSA Hall of Fame. The Commissioner of CLGSA shall continue to serve as a non-voting, ex-officio member of the Hall of Fame Committee, unless the Commissioner has been elected to the Hall of Fame, in which case that individual shall have voting privileges.
How many votes are needed for a nominee to be allowed in the Hall of Fame?
Nominees who receive three-quarters of the votes of eligible voters who return ballots by the indicated deadline will be inducted into the CLGSA Hall of Fame.
What happens after the votes are tabulated?
The Hall of Fame Chairperson will notify those nominees who gain the required number of votes to be accepted into the Hall of Fame.
